Acting, Auditions, and the Holidays

Acting, Auditions, and the Holidays

The end of the year with holiday parties and family gatherings can be a great time as well as a challenging time for actors.  If you haven’t accomplished all that you wanted to over the last few months, it’s time to renew your enthusiasm and commitment to becoming all that you want to be and do as an actor.

Start planning now how and what you want to achieve with your acting and be ready to hit the ground running when auditions begin in 2016.  Here are some actions to consider taking as you move forward.  If you feel less than inspired in your work, get into a great scene study class if you’re not already in one.  Do some private coaching to fine tune some skills you feel you’re missing and expand your strengths as an actor.  Become so good they can’t ignore you!

Now let’s talk about the holidays and the importance of celebrating what you have achieved this year in your work, not what you haven’t. If friends and relatives at various gatherings want to make less of your accomplishments or question you on your chosen career, recognize the intention behind the remarks and move on. Reading new scripts, seeing films, going to theater, and rehearing scenes will fortify you by actively staying creative and preparing for the new year. Here’s to the joy of creating and renewing your commitment to becoming extraordinary.

Happy Holidays to everyone and I’ll see you in the New Year!
