Are You Creating The Acting Career You Want?

Are you creating the acting career you want?

Three things to ask yourself:

Are you doing work that you love for your acting career?  Are you thrilled by what you’re doing in class, in auditions, and/or on set?  If you’re not leading the life you want by doing the work you love then it’s time to fix that!  Ask yourself these three things:

  1. Am I delivering performance level work when I audition?
  2. If not, do I need to study and focus more on removing weaknesses from my work?
  3. Am I putting as much time and creative energy as I can on my work, my attitude, and my talent?

If you’ve answered “no” to any of these questions, it’s time to de-bug your career.

If you aren’t doing the kind of work it takes to book the job, look at what’s stopping you.  If it’s personal problems that are a keeping you from producing great scenes in class and killing your auditions, then take a look at the source of those problems and handle it.

If it’s a lack of discipline needed to insure you have the time needed to prepare for scenes and auditions, then again, step back and take a look at that situation.  It takes a lot of drive and discipline to succeed in this business.  Are you willing to work and study as much as you need to in order to have the career you want?

It’s my experience as a coach that if you’re not where you want to be professionally, it’s not about time or money.  It’s about what you’re doing or not doing that’s holding things up.  Remember, “attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.”

Apply that to your life, your acting career, and your craft and see what happens.  Here’s to earning the career you want!
