When we began to break down this area, emotion started flowing that had been missing and the scene took on a whole new feeling. The next day, the actor went into read and he blew them away and got the part.
Acting is not a solo art form and it helps to be able to have a professional work with you who knows and understands how to bring out the best performance from you. If you’re too close to the work, you may miss the emotion, humor, and depth that the scene needs but that you may not have considered. And discovering those elements can take the scene to a whole new level of work. You can do a good audition or you can you do a great and book the part.
Whether I’m helping an actor prepare for an audition or on set helping prepare for the next scene being shot, the result is a confidence and freedom in the actor to create instinctively and not second guess himself.
Find a great private coach to work with and be prepared to book a lot of roles.
