Why Private Coaching? A Game Changer For Auditions!

Whether you’re just beginning your acting career, have taken classes before, or work consistently in the industry, private coaching is a hidden weapon that many overlook as an important tool to booking work consistently.

For someone who’s just starting out, studying privately gives you the opportunity to learn from the ground up while being consistently on your feet learning the basics at a rate you feel comfortable with. Because you and your progress are the entire focus of the coach while you’re there, many fundamentals can be understood with more certainty when in a private setting. If an area shows up as a weakness, it can be addressed at that moment before moving on to new areas. This prevents a build up of confusion and a lack of understanding not only for that area, but for other areas to follow.

Often in a class, you’re given a critique of a scene you just performed with five things that need to be changed, improved, or added. You’ve noted the areas you need to work on, but have no idea as to how to go back to rehearsal with your scene partner and implement those changes. In private coaching, you deal with those issues as they come up and have a good understanding of what you need to do before going back to rehearsal. So you leave your session with more confidence and skills. You return to rehearsal with more clarity and more ideas for what you need to do next with that scene.

When you’re not constantly going past things you don’t fully understand, your work improves more rapidly and your ability to bring fresh ideas to each scene is enhanced with every session.

For those of you who have studied, but feel flat or that you’ve hit a plateau in your work, a private coach can create a program for you that is specific to your needs to remove that flatness and boredom you may be suffering with your scenes. Excitement replaces the weaknesses and new creativity and confidence in your work start to soar.

Obviously, all of the above makes a big difference in your ability to audition and book the part. But there’s more to discuss about that which we’ll do next time!
